Phoenix Foundation is based at Kai Tak, Hong Kong. It is a destination that seamlessly blends rich history with modern redevelopment. Once home to the iconic Kai Tak International Airport, this area now offers travelers a unique glimpse into Hong Kong's past while providing contemporary attractions and amenities.
At the beginning of the 20th century, Ho Kai and Au Tak jointly operated "Kai Tack Land Investment Co., Ltd." to carry out reclamation projects on the north shore of Kowloon Bay. Government approval was obtained in April 1914, and construction began in 1916. The newly reclaimed land covers an area of 120 acres and was originally planned to be developed into a garden city residential area. The reclamation area is named "Kai Tak Bund" after the company jointly owned by the two. The first phase of the project was completed in 1920 and the second phase of the project was completed in 1927. Due to two strikes in Hong Kong in the 1920s that delayed the project and failed to generate expected revenue, the Kai Tak Company collapsed. At that time, the government preferred to use this largely vacant land for airport purposes. The land became a Royal Air Force airport, a flight club and a flight training center, and was later built as Kai Tak Airport.
Kai Tak now hosts many world-class sports and recreation facilities, shopping malls, residentials and commercial buildings. Kai Tak Sports Park includes a 50,000-seat main stadium, a world-class multi-purpose sports venue with a retractable canopy and movable turf, a 5,000-seat public sports ground, an indoor stadium and other sports facilities. Kai Tak also hosts Airside (an artistic pet-friendly landmark), Kai Tak Malls, Sogo Twins, and more.
You can arrive at Kai Tak Station directly by MTR Tuen Ma Line.
